Dangerous Deceit by Romy Gemmell

This delightful Regency romance has all the right ingredients. Lydia Hetherington is an innocent yet spirited heroine, who quickly sees through the foppish air adopted by Lord Marcus Sheldon. There's a lot more to this man than meets the eye. Finding out what that is adds an interesting layer of complexity to the eventful plot. The author is clearly very much at home in the period and the genre, seamlessly weaving a cast of colourful supporting characters, sparkling dialogue and rich period detail into the mix.

Homage to Caledonia cover

Hundreds of Scotsmen and women went to Spain in the 1930s to help fight fascism as volunteer soldiers in the International Brigades and other contingents and as volunteer nurses in the corps nicknamed The Red Nightingales. Daniel Gray tells their stories, often using their own words, in this meticulously researched, highly readable and very moving book.
